Nemo, qui condemnare potest, absolvere non potest. He who may condemn1 may acquit2. Dig. 50, 17, 37.

Nemo tenetur seipsum accusare. No one is bound to accuse himself.

Nihil dat qui non habet. He gives nothing who has nothing.

Nihil de re accrescit ei qui nihil in re quando jus accresceret habet. Nothing accrues5 to him, who, when the right accrues, has nothing in the subject matter. Co. Litt. 188.
