first job syndrome 首份工作综合征

"First job syndrome¹" is when you get a job early in your career, say right after graduation, and stay there for a long, long time to the point where it clouds knowledge of your own worth, and inhibits² your ability to not only ask for more, but to credibly³ leave if not given it. 

“首份工作综合征”指毕业工作以后在一个职位上待了很长时间，以至于你无法看清自己的价值，没法开口向上司提要求，要求得不到满足时也不太可能会离开。

 

People with this condition starts behaving like a beaten down puppy with the only employer they've ever known. A lack of confidence causes them to believe that no one else will have them or value them as much as their current employer. And, in some cases, they think it will be just as bad wherever they go, partly because everywhere else seems like a foreign country that may or may not even exist. 

患有此症的人就像一只被驯服的小狗，只认得一个主人。他们缺乏自信，认为没有人会像现在的老板一样明白自己的价值。有时候，他们甚至觉得不管去哪里工作都一样，大概因为在他们眼里，其他地方都跟外国一样遥不可及。
