reducetarian 忌肉主义者

Reducetarian refers to a person who purposefully reduces the amount of meat in their diet.

“忌肉主义者”是指故意减少饮食中肉的摄入量的人。

 

The term "reducetarian" was coined by Brian Kateman of Columbia University.

该词是由哥伦比亚大学的布莱恩·凯特曼创造。

 

Over the past few years, soaring numbers of people have opted¹ to become vegans, pescetarians and fruitarians. Now, there is the rise of the reducetarian - someone who cuts back on meat, but doesn't give it up entirely².

在过去几年里，越来越多的人选择成为纯素食主义者、鱼素主义者和果食主义者。如今，减少肉的摄入量，但不会完全不吃肉的“忌肉主义者”的人数也正在增加。

 

Kateman says the move not only boosts health, but benefits the environment - and is easier to achieve than the more radical³ options.

凯特曼表示，此举不仅能使人增强体魄、还有益于环境，而且比那些较为激进的做法更容易做到。
