time famine 时间饥荒

It's a problem so common it may qualify as a new American epidemic¹: We've got no time. Too busy. 

我们没时间了，太忙了。这个问题相当普遍，已经成为美国新的流行现象。

 

Overwhelmed by work, family obligations, and the fast-paced nature of a run-ragged world, many Americans -- especially working adults, parents of young children, and those with college degrees, according to polls -- feel strapped² for time and are leading less happy lives as a result. 

我们被工作、家庭责任、以及极度疲惫的世界的快节奏性质搞的不堪重负。调查显示，很多美国人，特别是成年职场人士、带孩子的父母、有大学文凭的毕业生都感到时间不够用，因此生活反而不那么快乐。

 

Researchers in the 1990s gave this familiar, if dreadful, feeling a name: time famine.
