　 「棋」( Chess )是著名的作词家 Tim Rice 所创作出的概念专辑，他以往的作品通常是根据真人实事来撰写歌词内容，如他和大名鼎鼎的安德鲁洛伊韦伯合作的「艾薇塔」、「万世巨星」，这张专辑却是他依据美国和苏联两国之间行之多年的西洋棋大赛所杜撰出来的故事，负责音乐编写的则是瑞典国宝 ABBA 阿巴合唱团的两位男团员 Benny Andersson 及 Bjorn Ulvaeus。

　由于专辑的成功，「棋」分别在1986年于伦敦西区和1988年于纽约百老汇改编成音乐剧，但票房表现上，英国明显比美国高出许多。" I know him so well "这首歌天后级的惠妮休斯顿曾在第二张专辑中翻唱，歌曲中扮演情敌的是她的母亲，有兴趣的朋友可以找来听听看。
