　 成名于六十年代的乡村音乐歌手葛伦坎伯，因为畅销曲不断，且拥有自己的电视节目秀，俨然巨星架式。
　 1975年，他驱车前往唱片公司途中，收音机里传来纽约布鲁克林歌手 Larry Weiss 创作演唱的" Rhinestone cowboy 莱茵石牛仔 "，他听完后十分感动，认为歌中主角的境遇就是他成功以前的写照，立刻到公司和制作人提起这首歌，制作人接着推荐一首希望他灌唱的新歌，并当场弹奏起来，没想到两人相中的竟然是同一首歌。唱功更胜一筹的葛伦坎伯翻唱的这首单曲推出后果然大受欢迎，拿下全美单曲榜冠军。　

　 Rhinestone 莱茵石，一种假钻，常用于乡村风格的服饰，但真正的牛仔却不屑于使用。故这首歌也有人翻成" 钻石牛仔 "。
