　美国乡村音乐巨星约翰丹佛写过多首经典名曲，其中有多首情歌均是为其妻子安妮而写。如 Annie's song等。
　由于中共当局一向视西方的摇滚乐为毒蛇猛兽，只有乡村音乐可以放行入关，约翰丹佛因而成了第一位到中国大陆开演唱会的美国歌星。这首「上海微风」便是约翰丹佛到上海献唱，于当地参观之后有感而发所写下的。从歌词看来，很明显的这也是一首献给妻子的歌。
