取消参赛资格

    国际奥委会新闻发言人戴维斯在8月12日召开的新闻发布会上宣布，西班牙自行车选手玛丽亚•莫里诺在北京奥运会兴奋剂检查中被发现使用促红细胞生成素(EPO)，已经被取消参赛资格。

    Davies said Moreno, 27, had beenstripped of her Games accreditation¹ and the matter had been referred to the International Cycling Union (UCI). 戴维斯表示，27岁的莫里诺已被取消参赛资格，此事已上报国际自行车联盟。

    Strip在这里是“剥夺”的意思，，而accreditation是“鉴定合格”的意思，因此“取消某人参赛资格”就是strip someone of one’s Games accreditation；那么，“某人被取消参赛资格”就是someone be stripped of one’s Games accreditation。在上述表达中，strip也可以用deprive这个词来代替。以此类推，“剥夺某人某物”就是strip someone of something，例如：The court order stripped him of everything in his possession.（法庭下令剥夺了他的一切财产。）
