国学大师 master of Chinese culture

7月11日，我国著名学者季羡林先生在北京与世长辞。季羡林先生一直被尊称为国学大师，那么国学大师的英文说法是什么呢？

被奉为“国学大师”的季羡林先生因心脏病离世，享年97岁。

在上面的报道中，我们可以看到“国学大师”就是master of Chinese culture，也就是精通中国文化的大师。其实，“国学大师”还有很多其他的说法，因为“国学”有多种不同的定义，国学可以指中国传统国学精粹，因此“国学大师”也可以翻译成master of traditional Chinese culture或master/expert of studies of ancient Chinese civilization。

例如：Zhang Taiyan is a Chinese famous revolutionist, thinker and expert of studies of ancient Chinese civilization.（章太炎是近代中国著名的革命家、思想家和国学大师。）此外，“国学大师”还可以翻译为master of Chinese national culture。

国学有时候也可以指代中国传统的思想核心“儒家文化”，一般翻译成Chinese Confucianism，如此语境下的“国学热”就可以是Confucianism Fever。
