Chinese athletic-shoe-maker Li Ning has teamed up with Xiaomi, the smartphone company, and launched two types of smart sneakers in Beijing.

In hopes of breaking into the growing wearable tech market, the shoes are on sale with affordable prices at 199 and 399 renminbi, 32 to 64 U.S. dollars respectively.
The smart shoe contains a chip in its sole that provides performance feedback on running progress and syncs with a mobile app to track running achievements.
Li Ning described the partnership as the first collaboration between sports and "smart" technology in China.
