中国将设立科幻小说与奇幻作品国家奖

China is to set up national-sponsored awards for science fiction and fantasy works within the next five years, China Youth Daily reports from the national congress of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).

 

《中国青年报》从中国科学技术协会全国代表大会上获悉，未来5年内中国将设立科幻小说与奇幻作品国家奖。

 

In a report by CAST chairman Han Qide, he revealed on Tuesday that China would initiate¹ projects to support the creation of sci-fi and fantasy works, adding that related sci-fi activities including international sci-fi festival will also be launched.

 

The projects aim to improve people's scientific knowledge and foster national innovation.

 

Han also said that CAST would increase people's access to science education resources by building more modern science and technology museums.

 

In recent years, more than one Chinese sci-fi writer has risen to international fame, including the prestigious² Liu Cixin, who is best-known for his trilogy of "The Three-body Problem", as well as newly-emerged Hugo-nominee Hao Jingfang.

 

China's highest award for science fiction is the Galaxy³ Award, which is founded by popular domestic magazine "Science Fiction World".
