German Chancellor¹ Angela Merkel will pay an official visit to China on May 24-25 at the invitation of Premier² Li Keqiang.

应中国国务院总理李克强之邀，德国总理默克尔将于5月24日至25日对中国进行正式访问。

It will be Chancellor Merkel's 11th visit to China since she took office in 2005.

The visit was announced by China's Foreign Ministry³ at a press conference on Friday.

In addition to visiting Beijing, Chancellor Merkel is also scheduled to visit Shenzhen, a city in southeast China that is one of the country's technology and manufacturing powerhouses.
