China women's basketball beat New Zealand 88-46

The New Zealand team is a mixed one with many new faces who joined the national team after it beat China 79-77 at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

After a brief 6-7 trailing at the beginning of the match, China broke off with nine straight point to take the control of the gameand extended¹ the lead on each quarter after that.

"We played at a high level no matter how the New Zealand team played. We are a better team than them and we showed it in the game, " said Chinese head coach Tom Maier, who was the manager of the New Zealand at Athens in 2004.

In a previous game, Cuba defeated a young Argentina team 67-47.
