A total of 91 people went missing after a landslide¹ buried 33 buildings in an industrial park in Shenzhen city of South China's Guangdong province on Sunday, according to local authorities.

据当地政府消息，12月20日深圳一工业园区内发生山体滑坡，导致33栋建筑物被掩埋，截止目前，共有91人失联。

 

山体滑坡（landslide）俗称“走山”、“垮山”，是常见的地质灾害（geologic hazard）之一。

 

据初步断定，此次山体滑坡并不是自然原因（natural causes）造成的，而是因为近两年附近施工挖土、在山体上堆积的大量渣土（accumulation of huge pile of soil）。人工堆土垮塌的地点属于淤泥渣土受纳场（a dump site），主要堆放渣土和建筑垃圾（soil and construction wastes），由于堆积量大、堆积坡度过陡，导致失稳垮塌，造成多栋楼房倒塌（the collapse² of the building）。
