1. Plainclothes

指的是便衣（不穿制服的）警察。"便衣"除了plainclothes，还可以用undercover 来形容，例如：undercover policeman（便衣警察），undercover FBI agent（联邦调查局密探），undercover security guard （便衣保安）等等。

警察正式的名称是 police (集合名词，只能当复数用，不能指个人)，或是 policeman (指个人)。而警官则是 police officer。就像在中文里我们常常戏称警察为"条子"一样，在美国老美也戏称警察是 cop。这个用法由来是以前警察都穿那种有铜扣 (copper⁵) 的大衣，所以就被昵称为 copper。后来日子久了就变成了 cop。 这个词原来是有一点歧视的味道，不过时间久了，连警察们自己都互称是 cop，所以就变成一个中性的字眼了。

2. Catch up with

这里的catch up with 可不是"逮捕、处罚"的意思，而是"赶上"，在这个片段可以理解为"过去找你们"。我们来看个例子：You run so fast it's hard to catch up with you.
