I really feel quite happy now. I’m sure I’ll get along somehow. Everything ‘s going to be all right. But I do need a place to sleep at night. I can’t sleep in the ground like you. Or in a tree the way you do. And I’m sure no nest could possibly be big enough for me. Maybe you know where I can stay. In the woods somewhere…You do? Will you take me there?

(After their supper in the cottage, the dwarfs¹ put on an entertaining show.)

The Dwarfs: Youdel, ho-la-la-ee-ay…

Happy: I’d like to dance and tap my feet, but they wouldn’t keep in rhythm. You see I washed them both today, and I can’t do nothing with them.

The Dwarfs: Ho hum the tune² is dumb, the words don’t mean a thing. Isn’t this a silly song gor anyone to sing?

Bashful: I chased a polecat up a tree, way out upon a limb. And when he got the best of me, I got the worst of him.

Snow White: Well, what shall I do?

Sleepy: Tell us a story.

The Others: Yes. Tell us a story.

Happy: A true story.

Bashful: A love story.

Snow White: Well, once there was a Princess…

Doc: Was the Princess you?

Snow White: And she fell in love.

Sleep: Was it hard to do?

Snow White: Ah, it was very easy. Anyone could see that the Prince was charming, the only one for me.

Doc: Was he strong and handsome?

Sleepy: Was he big and tall?

Snow White: There’s nobody like him, anywhere at all.

Bashful: Did he say “I love you”?

Happy: Did he steal a kiss?

我真的感觉开心多了，我相信我已经能够应付了，事情好像没那么严重。但是今天晚上，我需要一个住的地方。我不能跟你们一样睡在地上，也不能跟你们一样睡在树上，没有那么大的巢能容得下我。也许你们知道我可以睡在那儿。森林里没有小木屋……你知道吗?可以带我去吗？

（晚饭过后，小矮人们开始表演了。）

众矮人：悠哆，嗬啦啦依呃……

开心果：我跳舞，但脚从来都不合拍。你知道今天我还把两只脚都洗了，可现在还是对它们毫无办法。

众矮人：唱起这首糊涂歌，歌词是在不知所云。这不正是人人都唱的糊涂歌吗？

害羞鬼：我追只臭鼬到树上，爬上大树枝。当它胜过我，我也就输给了它。

白雪公主：哈哈！真好玩。

开心果：现在该你表演了。

白雪公主：那，我表演什么呢？

瞌睡虫：给我们讲个故事。

其它人：是的，讲个故事。

开心果：一个真实的故事。

害羞鬼：一个爱情故事。

白雪公主：从前有一个公主……

老学究：那位公主是你吗?

白雪公主：她坠入了情网。

瞌睡虫：这很难吗？

白雪公主：这很容易。大家都看得出来，那位王子很迷人，他是我唯一的爱人。

老学究：他是不是很强壮很英俊？

瞌睡虫：他是不是很长得很高？

白雪公主：在这个世界上，没有人能比得上他。

害羞鬼：他有没有说过“我爱你”？

开心果：他有没有偷吻过你?
