An old hunter1 moved to a new place. He got2 lost in the wood several3 times. A friend told him to buy a pocket4 compass5 and explained6 its use to him. But the soon got lost again and stayed out.
When he was7 found8 and asked why he did9 not use the compass, he said10: "It was very difficult to deal11 with. I wished to go north and tried hard to make the thing point north. But it wasn't any use. It would12 shake13, shake right round, and point south-east every time."
