TAI'AN, Shandong Province, China - Chinese strongwoman Liu Haixia hoisted1 262kg in a two-lift total to win the women's 69kg gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships here on Wednesday. The 27-year-old lifted 112kg in the snatch2 and 150kg in the jerk3 for the top honor. Minh Hai Khuat of Vietnam took the silver at 205kg. Kao Ya-chun of Chinese Taipei settled for the bronze at 203kg. In snatch, Liu, the Doha Asian Games champion, succeeded in her first two lifts breezily, but failed to manage 117kg in her last attempt. Yet, her mark was still 22kg more than that for the runner-up. In jerk, Liu made three good lifts at 138kg, 145kg and 150kg. "I didn't perform very well in the snatch," said Liu, "my previous best is 117kg, but I failed to reach it in the competition." "I will do my best in the training and competition in the future in order to prepare for the Olympic Games." Liu added. Yet, Ma Wenhui, the coach of Chinese woman's team, is quite satisfied with Liu's performance. "She performed very well. She was a little ill before the competition.
