Beijing - A motorcycle acrobatics1 show is to open in China's southwest municipality of Chongqin from June 16 to July 15, according to the event's press conference.
At the press, local officials said the country's first national amateur motocross championship is also to be held in the municipality from October 2 to 5.
The acrobatics show, offering awards worth of 180,000 yuan all together, is now open for registrations2 from home and abroad. Anyone between 18-45 year-old is eligible3 for participation4 and "no driving licenses5 are needed," the organizers stressed.
The organizers expect the number of participants is to reach several hundreds while among them are a dozen of more foreign drivers.
"While many complained about China's lukewarm atmosphere of the motor cycling sports, I think this show will do its part to make a change," said Yan Jianchang, director for China's motor racing6 sports administration.
China lead the world in motor cycle manufacturing and export while Chongqing hosts five of China's biggest eight motor cycle factories, according to Yan.
