According to report of The Daily Times of Pakistan on April 4, Nasser, President of Pakistan-China Business Council of FPCCI, and Wang Jinzhen, Assistant Chairman of CCPIT, who visited the export exhibition of Pakistan, held talks and agreed to hold the Second
Joint1 Committee of Pakistan-China Business Council in Beijing at the right time in 2006.
President Nasser said that main content of the 2nd Joint Committee was to identify problems in bilateral2 trade between China and Pakistan and “bottle necks “ in bilateral trade to submit them to the governments of the two countries to seek for effective approaches. He said that FPCCI decided3 to establish a liaison4 office in Guangzhou, China to enhance the contacts between chambers5 of commerce of the two countries and to promote bilateral trade. The address will be confirmed within a month.
Wang Jinzhen said that Sino-Pakistan trade increased from US$1 billion in 2000 to US$4.2 billion in 2005, and during the same period Chinese enterprises invested US$100 million in Pakistan. He said that there were huge potential in bilateral trade and investment, and hoped that Sino-Pakistan trade and economic cooperation would have bigger development in coming several years.
Zhao Qingmao, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and Shahid Mahmood, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, attended the Joint Committee. Meanwhile, Shahid mainly introduced to the reporters the China-Pakistan Early Harvest Program and Tariff Reduction and Zero-Tariff to each other
