Wu Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice¹ Premier², sent a letter to the Conference of National "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing³ Project held in Yangzhou on Feb. 28, pointing out that to implement⁴ the "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project was the important strategic measure to construct modern circulation network in countryside, to exploit rural market and expand domestic consumption demand, and played an active role of promotion⁵ for the building of a new socialist⁶ countryside. She asked to get a better understanding on the importance of enhancing construction of modern circulation network in countryside and to make efforts to do a better job in the "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project.

Wu Yi said in the letter, the central committee and State Council highly stressed the work of "farmer, agriculture and countryside" and put forward recently the great historical task of building a new socialist countryside. Since the implementation⁷ of "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project by the Ministry⁸ of Commerce in Feb. 2005, the Project made an initial and formed a favorable pattern of benefit for farmers, market for enterprises and trust of people in the government.

Wu Yi pointed⁹ out that there was still a long way to go in order to exploit rural market. To maintain implementing¹⁰ "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project was the important task put forward by 2005 Central Economic Working Conference and CCP Central Committee Document No. 1 of 2006, and also the historical mission for commercial departments at all levels to contribute to the building of a new socialist countryside. We should further enhance the understanding on importance of constructing modern circulation network in countryside through promotion of typical experience like Suguo Supermarket, and combine efforts of relative departments and all circles of the society to work with an earnest attitude to do better the "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project.

Representatives from departments of national organs and commercial administrative¹¹ departments of provinces and cities took part in the Conference of National "Ten Thousand Villages" Marketing Project held in Yangzhou. Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai summarized the achievements and experiences made within 1 year at the Conference since the implementation of the Project, and arranged the following works to maintain the implementation of the Project
