The Association for Trade and Economic Exchanges Across the Taiwan Straits held the New Year Party in Beijing News Plaza¹ Hotel on Feb. 24, inviting² Taiwan traders in Beijing to take part in the Party. Liao Xiaoqi, Vice³ Minister of Commerce attended the Party and gave a speech.

　　Mr. Liao Xiaoqi said that the Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Relations presented a good momentum⁴ of development now, and trade maintained a high-speed increase. Taiwan's investment in Mainland kept steady. Meanwhile, he extended welcome and thanks to the investment of Taiwan traders in Mainland, and hoped that Taiwan traders could strengthen confidence in investment and development in Mainland to actively⁵ participate China's Western Development Program, strategy of Revitalizing China's Northeast Old Industrial Base and economic construction of Rising of central China to promote the cross-strait trade and economic exchanges developing to a higher level and in a bigger scale. He said that the Ministry⁶ of Commerce and Association for Trade and Economic Exchanges Across the Taiwan Straits would strive to do better if it was the matter benefiting Taiwan compatriots, the promotion⁷ of cross-strait trade and economic exchanges, maintenance of peaceful Taiwan Straits and the peaceful national reunification.

　　More than 40 Taiwan business representatives took part in the New Year Party and expressed the strong expectation to stabilize⁸ the cross-strait relations and develop trade and economic exchanges and communication.

　　The Association for Trade and Economic Exchanges Across the Taiwan Straits was established in 2004 and a Non-Profit Organization, aim of it was to further push forward and develop cross-strait trade and economic exchanges and cooperation under the guidance of governmental departments
