基于蜂窝的窄带物联网（Narrow Band Internet of Things, NB-IoT）成为万物互联网络的一个重要分支。

Narrow Band Internet of Things, (NB-IoT) is a technology being standardized¹ by the 3GPP standards body. This technology is a narrowband radio technology specially² designed for the Internet of Things (IoT), hence its name. Special focus of this standard are on indoor coverage³, low cost, long battery life and large number of devices. This technology can be deployed⁴ in GSM and LTE spectrum⁵.

窄带物联网是由3GPP（《第三代伙伴计划协议》）标准化组织定义的一种技术标准，是一种专为物联网设计的窄带射频技术，因此得名。以室内覆盖、低成本、低功耗和广连接为特点。这种技术可应用于GSM网络和LTE网络。

和窄带网络对应的则是宽带网络（Broadband network），一般指的是带宽超过155kbps以上的网络。
