King Wu went on a trip to view the beautiful mountain scenery in his domain¹. Led by the stately honor guards, King Wu climbed up a mountain peak.

 

The monkeys in the mountain were scared away by King Wu's attendants, except for a big monkey who didn't show the least sign of fear.

 

To show its bravery, the monkey showed off its smartness and dexterity² by every means, it stuck out its paw to seize the arrow shot at it by King Wu and brandishing³. Upon seeing this, the King because furious, and with a wave of his hand, the attendants around him shot all together. It was hard for the monkey to dodge⁴ the arrows, and eventually, struck by arrows; it died, clinging to a tree.
