Finance and taxation¹ experts have refuted rumors² that individuals whose annual income is more than 120,000 yuan ($17,720) are in the "high-income group" and will be levied³ higher tax.

国务院近日印发《关于激发重点群体活力带动城乡居民增收的实施意见》，提到，“要进一步减轻中等以下收入者的税负，同时适当加大对高收入者的税收调节力度”（reduce tax burdens for low and middle-income earners and strengthen tax adjustment for high-income earners）。
