A Chinese pop singer, best known for his campus ballads¹, faces prison after he was caught drunken driving on Monday night in Beijing, police said on Tuesday.

北京警方本周二称，知名校园民谣音乐人高晓松醉驾，将被追究刑事责任。

文中的drunken driving就是指“醉驾”，比“DUI”（driving under the influence，酒驾）的情节更严重，更容易引发交通事故。“酒驾”也可以用driving while intoxicated来表示。为了避免此类事故，喝了酒的司机可以寻求designated driving service（代驾服务），请designated driver（代驾司机）为自己开车。

交警在检查时，要对司机进行breath alcohol test（酒精呼气测试），必要时还需进行blood test（血液检测）。有些司机在出现交通事故后hit-and-run（肇事逃逸）。对于这些行为，必须要实行zero tolerance³（零容忍）。
