Using frogmen, fishing nets, floating objects and hundreds of boat rammings, Vietnam escalated² its harassment³ of China over Beijing’s legal oil drilling in the South China Sea, a statement from the Foreign Ministry⁴ said on Sunday.

 

外交部周日发表的一篇文章指出，越南方面通过派出蛙人，投放渔网和漂浮物以及成百上千次船只冲撞加大了对中方在南海合法钻井作业的干扰。

 

越方对中方船只的“冲撞行为”英文中一般用ramming表示，BBC在报道中也使用了ramming raid来表示；其动词形式为ram，即“猛烈撞击”，如：they used a truck to ram¹ the main gate（他们用一辆卡车猛撞大门）。如果这个词的三个字母都大写，RAM则指random access memory（随机存储记忆），指电脑的内存。

 

文章称，5月2日以来，中方在各个层级与越方进行了30多次沟通，要求其停止非法干扰活动（illegal harassment）。令人遗憾的是，越方的非法干扰活动仍在继续。中方规劝越方从维护两国关系和南海和平稳定大局出发，尊重中方的主权、主权权利和管辖权（respect China's sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction），立即停止对中方作业任何形式的干扰（immediately stop all disruptions of the Chinese operation），并撤走现场所有船只和人员（withdraw all vessels⁵ and personnel from the site），缓和紧张局势，使海上尽快恢复平静。
