That's Why!
Jimmy started
painting1 when he
was2 three years old, and when he was five, he was
already3 very good at it. He also
got4 many
prizes5 for his painting. He painted many beautiful and interesting pictures, and people
paid6 a lot of money for them They
said7,“This boy's
going8 to be famouswhen he's a little older, and then we’re going to sell these pictures for a lot more money.”
Jimmy's pictures were different from other people's because he never painted it on all of the paper. He painted on half of it, and the other half was always empty.
“That's very clever,”everybody said.“Nobody else does that!”They all
believed9 that the boy was a
pioneer10 in painting.
One day,
somebody11 bought one of Jimmy's pictures and then said to him,“Please tell me this, Jimmy. Why do you paint on the
bottom12 half of your pictures, but not on the tophalf ?” “Because I'm small,”Jimmy said,“and my brushes don't
reach13 very high.”

人们付(pay)很多钱(a lot of money)买这些画。
