❶ “in response to sth.”在这里表示“（做某事）作为对（某个事情或言语）的
回应”，例如：The law was passed in response to public pressure.（迫于公众的
压力，这条法律通过了。）另外，“in response to sth.”还可以表示“（说或
写……）作为对……的回复或答复”，同“in answer to sth.”，例如：I am
writing in response to your letter of June 12.（我写信回复你6月12日的来
信。）
❷ “Please be seated.”在口语中用来礼貌地请人落座，此外，也可用“Please
have a seat.”。
❸ “be right for”意为“适合……”，例如：A huge development like this isn't right
