May 8 - Chinese shares started higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opening at 3,937.94 points, up 96.67 points, or 2.52 percent, Xinhua reports.
The index, which tracks both yuan-denominated A shares and hard-currency B shares traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed at 3,841.27 points on April 30, before the week-long Labor1 Day holidays.
