After all these years, the cast of "Friends" may reunite on NBC, though not for an update on the classic¹ comedy as fans had hoped.

NBC's network entertainment chief confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying that there will be a primetime special to celebrate iconic TV director James Burrows² timed to his 1000th episode³ behind the camera; and all six stars will be involved.

The man refused to give further details including whether the six actors will be filming at the same time.

The director is known for the "Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Cheers," "Will & Grace," and "Friends."

The casts of some of those other series will also make appearances in the two-hour special, scheduled on the 21st next month.
