The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has proposed a four-day, 36-hour work week for employees in China, to be implemented¹ by 2030, reports guancha.cn.

A report published by the academy on Friday regarding leisure time in China calls for employees to work a nine hour day, four times a week. It has also called for extending the retirement² age, and cancelling some of the existing national holidays.

 

The proposal aims to offer Chinese workers more flexible leisure time. According to the report, workers in China enjoy less leisure time than workers in the United States, Britain, and Germany.
