Chinanews, Beijing, Mar1. 8 – The Palace Museum of China and the British Museum will jointly2 launch an exhibition called “Britain and the world” on March 9 in the exhibition center inside Forbidden City, the former Imperial Palace in Beijing.
Hundreds of cultural relics3, owned by the British Museum will offer the visitors glimpses of the history of Britain from the reign4 of King George Ⅰ to King George Ⅳ (1714-1830)in the Hanoverian line of British rulers. Organizers hope the exhibition will also enable the visitors to understand why Britain, remote islands in the northwestern Europe, could rise as a main world power in the 19th century. The Palace Museum has also selected several kinds of its cultural relics to be exhibited at the grand show. Li Ji, deputy curator of the Palace Museum, revealed that the exhibition would demonstrate the rising process of the Britain as a world power, which may become an interesting topic for Chinese visitors.
