Chinanews, Beijing, March 24 - Nederlander, one of the biggest chain-theater runners in Broadway of New York, US, announced in Beijing on March 22 that it would set up a series of Broadway Theaters in big cities in China, to introduce Broadway musicals to the Chinese.
A new company, Broadway China Network, has been founded to manage the Broadway Theaters in China. Robert Nederlander, the chief executive of the Nederlander Theater, promised that it would introduce more and more classic Broadway musicals to China as well as to inject new vigor1 into the theatrical2 industry in China, in the aspects of management, program arranging, ticketing, etc.
The first show in China will be the famous The 42nd Street, telling the story of a young actress named Peggy Sawyer who rises from a chorus girl to become a Broadway star. It is even regarded as the musical for people who really loves musicals.
Broadway China Network said that the ticket price would be between 200 and 300 yuan, and the prices in different cities would be unified3.
