Chinanews, Beijing, June 8 – The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences released the blue paper on Chinese human resources for the year of 2007 recently. The blue paper shows that over the past 28 years, about 25.77% of overseas Chinese students have returned to China, while over 70% of them choose to live abroad, the People's Daily Overseas Edition reported.
From 1978 to 2006, about 1.07 million Chinese students went abroad for study. About 275,000 students have returned, while 792,000 students live and work in a foreign country. Among those who live abroad, about 200,000 have obtained the permanent resident card in or changed their nationality to the country where they stay. In addition, there are 300,000 who stay in a foreign country either because their family members are in a foreign country or they went abroad for some reason and have later decided1 to stay.
