Chinanews, December 4 – For the convenience of travelers from abroad, guideboards in Beijing will be marked in at least 4 languages before 2008.

The first two languages on the guideboards are of course Chinese and English, and the rest are yet to be decided¹. “The choice will be based on where the most travelers will come in 2008,”said Xiong Yumei, vice² director of Beijing Municipal Tourism Administration, “and they might be Japanese and Korean”.

Besides the multilingual guideboards, Beijing is also planning to equip some of its scenic³ spots that are popular with travelers from abroad with multilingual electronic guides.
