Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 2 – The Beijing Bureau of Cultural Heritage announced on Tuesday that a 5-km section of Great Wall had been discovered in Yanqing, Beijing during a survey of the Great Wall in Beijing. The survey, started in April, 2006, is the first of its kind ever launched by cultural heritage protection authorities.   Currently half of the survey work, involving 231.47 kilometers of the wall, has been finished.   Wang Yuwei, an official from the Beijing Bureau of Cultural Heritage, revealed that since 1984 no formal survey of the Great Wall in Beijing had been conducted. Many sections of the wall need to be re-explored.
