Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 20 – China has 17.48 million bloggers, with 37.3% of them being college students, according to a recent survey made by students at China Youth University for Political Sciences, the Beijing Daily reported.
From the later half of 2005 to 2007, there has witnessed a booming period for college students to register online as blog users. Many college students love to become bloggers, since the writing style involves no editing, costs or access threshold, nor does it face any technological1 requirements or institutional limitations. The form of the blog articles is also very flexible. In fact, many college students knew little about web blog when they studied at senior high schools. Information shows that in 2006, about 67.6% of students registered online as blog users during their first college year because, compared with their senior high school years, they felt that they had more free time at college.
The report shows that each college student spends 44.6 minutes every day on average writing blogs. 20.9% of the students consider blogging as a very important part of their life and 9.7% of the students say they have devoted2 much time and efforts writing blogs.
Most students update their blog websites 2-3 times a week or at least once a week. However, 16.0% of students haven’t refreshed their blog websites for more than a month and 13.6% of them haven’t refreshed them for at least three months now, as the survey shows. This shows that compared with netizens in general, although a larger number of college students have registered as blog users, they don’t update their blog websites as frequently as netizens in general.
The survey also shows that 71.8% of the respondents admit that they have pasted their pictures on their websites, which indicates that college students are willing to paste their pictures online so that these pictures can establish a connection between their virtual life and their real life.
