Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin are to be inducted into the hall of fame at the Apollo Theatre in New York.

Franklin, 68, best known for hits including I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) and Respect, will attend a ceremony at the Harlem theatre on 14 June.

Past inductees（就任者，应征者） include Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones and James Brown.

Jackson and his brothers won the Apollo's Amateur Night contest, a feat¹（功绩，壮举） which is credited with launching their career.

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony, meanwhile, are to be presented with the theatre's arts and humanitarian²（人道主义者） award.

The Apollo is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
