A tree that is 1,400 years old in China's Shaanxi Province is drawing tens of thousands of people from all over the country, the Beijing Youth Daily reports.

Crowds of people began to come to the temple where the tree stands after photos of the tree went viral on the internet.

 

The photos show the tree's golden autumn leaves scattered¹ on the ground making up what is described as a "yellow ocean."

 

The tree is located within the walls of the Gu Guanyin Buddhist² Temple in the Zhongnan Mountains, some 30 kilometers away from downtown Xi'an city.

 

It's been reported that the tree was planted by Emperor Taizong of Tang, or Li Shimin, the second emperor of the Tang dynasty of China.

 

The ancient tree has also been popular in past years during autumn because of it's beautiful yellow autumn leaves.

 

One staff member says on weekends, people usually have to wait in a queue that may extend³ for hundreds of meters and may take more than three hours to have a look at the tree.
