Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 25 – A group of gangsters2 that used force to try to control the one-day sightseeing tourism market in the Tiananmen Square were arrested by policemen last Saturday. 13 people, including the gang leader and his confederates, were all caught. The policemen also suspended two buses and six cars that they used for making money. This is the largest case that policemen cracked down on the one-day sightseeing market.
The gangster1 group hired some bullies3 to defeat their business competitors and controlled the one-day sightseeing tourism market in the Tiananmen Square. When winning one tourist, the salesman could get 40 yuan from ticket selling, and the illegal driver could get 30 yuan of service fees. The gangster group also hired some accountants to settle with the driver every day. After investigation4, policemen found that the head of the gangster group was a man surnamed Wang. He came from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous5 Region and has lived in Beijing for many years. With the help of his friends, Wang hired two buses to do the one-day sightseeing business illegally. The suspects said they often told visitors that they were from legal tourism agencies. They usually offered a low service price. After the tourists got on the bus and headed for the destination, they would stop the bus on the way and asked the tourists to pay more money. If the tourists refused, they would drop them off. Policemen remind that there is a legal one-day sightseeing service center near Qianmen district. They urge Beijing local residents to tell the information to tourists so that they won’t be taken in when visiting Beijing.
