Chinanews, Beijing, Oct. 9 – Nowadays various new-style DINK (Double Income, No Kids) families are surging in Chinese cities.

According to People's Daily (overseas edition), in Chinese cities, newly-weds are normally the most active advocates of DINK families. After getting married for 8 to 15 years, however, they begin to waver as they are afraid of being regretful for not having a kid in a life. Therefore, some people drop out of the DINK group finally to become the "temporary DINK", while others with strong DINK determination begin to choose pets to take the place of kids.

Temporary DINK families are booming in cities currently, accordingly pregnant women aged1 over 35 increase gradually, most of whom had preferred DINK families but changed their minds several years later.

People born in the 1970s and early 1980s are becoming fathers and mothers successively now. But being busy at work or claiming no experience in taking care of babies, some of these new parents hand over their kids to the grandparents, while they themselves still follow the previous DINK living style to become the new-style "fake DINK" families.

There is another kind of DINK family adopting pets to take the place of kids. Laopan and Yajing's life has become colorful and delightful2 now since the coming of a cat and a dog.

"Now we are energetic everyday since the cat and the dog came to our home. They are just like our kids. We find great solace3 in them. Actually, what we contribute, the love, the energy and the efforts, to the pets are the same as what we would contribute to a kid of ours if we had one," said Laopan.
