| Chinanews, Shanghai, Dec. 1 – According to Xinmin Evening News, currently some women college graduates in Shanghai wish to find high-caliber husbands rather than to find decent jobs. Some of them even think having a good husband is much better than having a good job. They start seeking help from matchmaking websites.  They raised several requirements for their future husbands. A college graduate who named herself "sunny girl" online left a message on a matchmaking website, which said that her boyfriend should be under 40, lead a decent life, with an average monthly salary of 25 thousand yuan (US$3.1 thousand), and have no kids.  When this reporter asked about her motives1, she said frankly2 that she might not be able to find a good job that could enable her to buy an apartment or luxury goods, but a well-off husband could help her solve all these problems.  A male college graduate who named himself "finding love alone" online also wished to find a capable wife on the same matchmaking website.  Among a number of websites set up in Shanghai, a website specializing in serving women college graduates raised their high requirements for men who wanted to register as members online: civil servants with an annual salary of 50 thousand yuan ($6.3 thousand) and a master degree.  More women college graduates than men are seeking help from matchmaking websites or matrimonial agencies to choose their spouses3.   |
