Bus turnover kills 7 in NW China

Dec.3 - Seven people died and 17 others were injured after a bus overturned on a mountain road Saturday afternoon in northwest China's Qinghai Province, local traffic police said.

The accident occurred at 2:00 p.m. at Jiading Township of Huzhu Tu Autonomous¹ Prefecture when a bus carrying 24 turned over at top of Xiadaban Mountain due to icing snow on the road.

It plunged² off a dozen of meters onto a lower section of the winding³ mountain road that connects the county and Xiing, capital city of Qinghai, according to traffic police.

Six people were killed on the spot. One of the 18 injured died in hospital, the traffic police said.

Local officials rushed to the site for rescue effort and the accident is under investigation⁴, police said.
