Chinanews, Guangzhou, December 11 – The parents of many high-school students in Guangzhou have already made reservations1 of overseas2 academic tours in the coming winter holiday for their kids, particularly tours to the US.
Nearly all the international travel agencies3 offer overseas academic tour service to high-school students, and parents and students regard such tours as a good preparation for studying abroad in the future. No wonder they are so popular, although a 2-week tour costs no less than 10,000 , and even 30,000 yuan. The most popular destination of overseas academic tours is the US (which makes it the most expensive one, too, about 32,800 yuan per capita). “Last year, about 80% of our 400 customers chose the US as the destination of their academic tours, and we expect more this year,”said a travel agent. Besides, the parents expect their kids to practice their oral English and learn to be independent in the tour, which they believe will be helpful in their kids' future life and career.
