Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 19 - Migrant women in Beijing hold a liberal view toward sex behaviors before marriage. A report on migrant women’s reproductive health conditions in Beijing shows that half of the women covered in the report think pre-marriage sex behaviors are a very common phenomenon in society. Some even say that it might be abnormal if the loving pair does not live together, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
The report was published at the 2006 Beijing Population and Development Forum1 held last Saturday. More than one-fourth of the migrant women covered in the report do not oppose to men finding prostitutes. Half of the women say that it is very common for people to live together before getting married. Children of the migrant group hold a similarly liberal view toward sexuality issue. A survey from the China Population and Development Research Institute shows that as many as 40% of the young people in the survey understand pre-marriage relationship or take a neutral stand on the issue. The percentage is even higher than that among adults.
