Chinanews, Changchun, Dec. 20 – Recently, “uninvited guests” have appeared in the sky over Changchun, Jilin Province. Thousands of crows choose to stay in the residential1 areas. Residents living in the surrounding regions have to bear their twittering from dawn till dusk. Some of them are even attacked by those crows. Local citizens are forced to drive them in vain.
Experts find that there are mainly jungle crows, jackdaws and rooks inhabiting the area. They enjoy looking for food collectively, which makes a fantastic sight. But these crows’ arrival has disturbed people’s quiet life. Some old people complain that they have never slept well since the crows came.
Unable to bear it any more, people have tried several ways fighting against these creatures but failed again and again. At first, they fired several crackers2 to scare them off, but they remained unruffled. Then residents fired salutes3, but again in vain. Finally they tried to use hawks4 to kill them, but local officials said that crows should be protected.
In recent years, many international metropolises5 like Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing and Shenyang are disturbed by crows, but city authorities can’t think of any effective ways other than dispelling6 or killing7.
