A cold epidemic1 is spreading over Beijing, causing heavy pressure upon its hospitals and clinics. |
Chinanews, Beijing, January 11 – According to the Ministry2 of Health, a flu epidemic is spreading over north China, and experts suggest that the general public take precautions against it.
The epidemic started in last December, when the incidences of common cold and flu exceeded that in the same period in 2005. This week, the incidence of flu is rising faster than expected, which is a dangerous sign.
Doctors believe the epidemic has reached the peak in the north this year, and they don't think there will be an epidemic nationwide. However, it still takes time and efforts to win the campaign against the disease even there are small-scale epidemics3 only.
