Chinanews, Wuhan, Jan. 17 – The Hubei-based Chutian Golden Paper recently reported a ninety-year-old professor who wanted to find an ideal1 marriage partner to live with him for the rest of his life. The news aroused2 great concern from the public. As soon as the newspaper published the news, more than ten women responded to it. Once learning3 the news, the professor’s niece, who was now studying in Australia, made a phone call to voice her support for his decision.
On Monday, from 9 o’clock in the morning to 4:30 in the afternoon, 31 women, who were all readers of the newspaper, called the newspaper hotline. The youngest woman was only 42 years old, while the oldest one was 75 years old. Most of these women are well-educated. They love music, singing and dancing, and know computers. The professor required that his ideal marriage partner should be able to speak a foreign language. Some women did not understand why the professor came up with so many strict requirements to his marriage partner. The professor explained to the reporter that he wanted to write some articles and record those articles in tapes. Besides, he also wanted to take some photos in the rest of this life. However, his eyesight was poor and he also had a bad memory. Now he usually had to spend much time searching for related4 information. Therefore, it would be good if his future wife could help him in his work. Some people suspected that the professor actually wanted to find a personal secretary and a maid at home. In responding to this, the professor said that he had hired an hourly-paid worker to do housework for him. And he didn’t want his wife to be his servant at home. He admitted that he wanted his future wife to do some of the secretarial work for him. However, such work would only improve their relationship, he said. The professor said that he would contact all women who responded. If he could find his ideal marriage partner after contact, he would consider marrying her. Also, he said he wouldn’t do any property notarization. However, he does wish that once he dies, his son, who now suffers from a slight schizophrenia, can stay at home to spend the rest of his life peacefully with the care of his stepmother.
