Chinanews, Beijing, Feb.1 – According to a report by Beijing Municipal Academy of Social Sciences, Beijingers felt less satisfied with their life in 2006, and they complain about less free time, prolonged overwork and jamming traffic.
The report reveals that, those living in Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen and Xuanwu districts spent 8 hours and 41 minutes more on work and traffic every week in 2006, compared with the figure in 2001; however, their free time every week was 8.5 hours shorter. Medicare, housing, employment, old-age care, education and income will remain to be the top concerns of the Beijingers in at least the next 5 years. The insufficient1 development of Beijing should of course be blamed, while increasing social pressures upon the Beijingers did contribute to their anxiety, too.
